STOP PRESS... STOP PRESS... STOP PRESS...
On 6 October 2012 we will be giving a performance of Di Sheyne Milnerin at St John's Smith Square, London. Our debut at this wonderful venue will herald the release of our new CD on the Nimbus label.
The image heading this page, 'A sheyn lid hob ikh gezungen', by Liorah Tchiprout, will be the cover of the CD of 'Di Sheyne Milnerin.' You can see more work by Liorah Tchiprout at http://www.tchiprout.com
Di Sheyne Milnerin - A Yiddish 'Die Schone Mullerin' - is a reworking of Schubert's cycle of unrequited love by bass-baritone Mark Glanville using songs and poems from the Yiddish tradition, many of them in fabulous new arrangements and compositions by Alexander Knapp.
We're delighted to announce that, following a sell-out performance of 'A Yiddish Winterreise' at The Kennedy Center, Washington last year we have been invited to return and present two new programmes:
A Jewish Romance (November 2013) which will draw on the music of six different Jewish traditions and also feature the soprano Julia Melinek and the ARC Ensemble,
and
Byron's Hebrew Melodies (November 2014) the poet's verse, in settings by his friend the composer Isaac Nathan.
Both these performances are to be recorded live in Washington for commercial release.
